ICRISAT Requires Programmer(Bioinformatics)

ICRISAT seeks applications from Indian nationals for the post of Programmer (Bioinformatics) to be based atPatancheru, Andhra Pradesh, India.

Requirements: M.S. in computer science, bioinformatics, physics, mathematics or similar with demonstrable computational and software development skills;Demonstrated ability to produce well designed, documented code in some of R, Perl, or similar; experience programming in Java/C++ a big plus;Software development experience supporting the life sciences in data analysis and automation ,Proficiency in using build, test, version control, and documentation tools;Proficiency working in a Linux environment and with Unix shell scripting;Proficiency with the SGE cluster environment; familiarity with operating in a cloud environment such as AWS a big plus;Familiarity with the ecosystem of standard tools for primary sequence analysis (e.g. BWA, samtools, vcftools, bedtools, tabix, Picard tools, GATK, CASAVA, Bowtie, Tophat, Cufflinks), their APIs and standard file formats (SAM/BAM, VCF, BED, etc.);Experience in working in interdisciplinary project teams;

Qualification:

• Officer Scale-I: (i) Bachelor degree of a recognised University in any discipline or its equivalent. Preference will be given to the candidates having Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Co-operation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics and Accountancy. (ii) Essential : Proficiency in Local Language i.e. Punjabi and must have passed “Punjabi” as one of the subjects at 
  Matriculation/10th Standard(iii) Computer knowledge or awareness will be an added qualification.
