ICRISAT Requires Server – Network Administrator

ICRISAT seeks applications from Indian nationals for the post of Server – Network Administrator to be based at Patancheru, Andhra Pradesh, India. This is a nationally recruited position.

Requirements: Graduate in Information Technology/ preferably with minimum 6 years experience on managing server and network environment of medium size data center. Added certification on Microsoft Servers and Cisco Networking is preferred

Responsibilities:

• Managing and monitoring over 40 numbers of Microsoft Windows servers and Linux Based servers with details given below:
• Microsoft Windows Server equipped with features/sub-components/servers: MS Active directory, MS Exchange Mail Server, MS SQL Database server, MS ISA Server, DHCP Server, DNS Server, IIS Webserver.
• Linux servers (Redhat enterprise server and Ubuntu server/desktop) equipped with features/sub-components/servers: Apache web server, mysql database servers, kerio mail server, Wordpress blog, Drupal web server, php environment and phpmyadmin, Named, DHCP.
• Administering and maintaining these servers with activities includes, creating users, configuring rights and privileges, and ensuring access to users, creating possible facilities in the server environment depending on need.
• Managing and maintaining Patches and service packs in the servers.
• Managing anti-virus software in the servers.
• Monitoring the servers for the usage verses free resources available in them.
• Monitoring the availability of services provided by the servers and strengthening automatic generating of alerts.
• Contributing and Helping the ISU team in strengthening IT security around servers and services provided by them.
• Documenting every instance of creation and modification of user, groups, distribution lists, listservers and
• Documenting most up to date snapshot of services and configuration for each server including changes made from time-to-time.
• Monitoring Local Area network and over 35 departmental VLANs.
• Managing and configuration Institute’s CISCO based managed/unmanaged switches and various routing protocols with a view to ensure their availability to the users.
• Works with and providing inputs to ISU team in locating, isolating and trouble shooting network/routing problem in the Institute local area network.
• Monitoring gateways and firewall devices with a view to ensure availability of Internet services to Institute users.
• Helping ISU team in overcoming helpdesk problems associated with computer systems, networking devices, desktop applications and in related areas.
• Manage and support video conferencing activities and services offered by ISU/KSI.
• Creating virtual domain names and mapping it with web sites.
• Other related IT responsibilities allocated by ISU/Institute from time-to-time
